Luminos LLC was formed in July 2007 in Ann Arbor, Michigan by three scientists who collectively have over 50 years of experience in designing, manufacturing, analyzing and shipping FDA regulated and life science and clinical products worldwide. Two of the founders have worked at Abbott Labs Diagnostics Division, Kallestad Diagnostics, Sanofi Diagnostics, R&D Systems, and in 1992 founded Assay Designs, Inc.
“ Our philosophy is to build the highest quality detection and immunoassay products for clinically important biomolecules. ”
Assay Designs (www.assaydesigns.com) is a company that has grown from 2 part-time employees to be a major worldwide supplier of immunoassay and detection kits.
Luminos company philosophy is to build the highest quality detection and immunoassay products for clinically important biomolecules. Our primary customer focus is both pharmaceutical and clinical scientists. We build robust immunoassay and enzyme activity kits to quantitate biomolecules in biological matrices. We delight in taking on the most technically challenging assays there are to develop. The thrill of building a kit that makes someones job easier or allows someone to measure something no one else has been able to is what drives us. And we are driven!
Quality does not come cheap. We will not follow the trend of other companies and contract out services such as organic chemistry, peptide synthesis, polyclonal or monoclonal antibody production to whatever country can provide the cheapest labor.
“ We believe that how we work relates to the world we live in. At Luminos, we give back to the community by donating a substantial proportion of our profits to charity and by donating our time through volunteerism. ”
The quality of the product will suffer. So we go back to the same high quality suppliers (and friends) that we've used before even if it will cost more. The quality of the analytical measurement is proportional to the quality of the raw materials. This is the basis of our QUICKAssay contract development program.
We are also aware that our jobs relate to the world we live in. We give back to the community we will donate a substantial proportion of our profits to charity or contribute by donating our time to help others, either by charitable giving or by physically helping.
We recycle everything we can. For example, our letterhead, envelopes and business cards are printed on FCS paper. FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) is an international organization that promotes the

use of environmentally sustainable and friendly paper sources. The mission of the international organization is: The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) shall promote environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable management of the world's forests. You will see the FSC logo on more and more paper products as socially responsible methods of recycling and renewal are implemented:
Committed to Thinking & Working Green
The Rainforest Alliance certifies many of the programs (Rainforest Alliance Conservation Programs) that yield FSC certified paper choices for high percentage post-consumer recycled paper that is bleached with non-chlorine treatments.
Demand FSC certified paper for your copy machine or printer, ask your employer to use as much FSC paper as possible (there are FSC merchants and printers in almost every country) for its publications, etc, etc. In addition, use products that contain the highest possible level of post-consumer recycled content to help preserve our world.
